JOINT & TENDON INJECTIONS

Looking for joint or tendon pain relief?

OUR JOINT & TENDON INJECTION SERVICES

At Evolution-Physio, we offer Hyaluronic Acid Injections for Osteoarthritis and Tendinopathies to help reduce pain and improve mobility. Our expert Physiotherapists provide safe, effective treatments tailored to your needs.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance found in joint fluid that helps cushion and lubricate the joints. In osteoarthritis, its levels can decrease, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. HA injections help restore this lubrication, improving shock absorption and reducing friction within the joint. For tendinopathies, it enhances tissue hydration, reduces inflammation, and supports healing, helping relieve pain and improve function. It is an excellent non-surgical option for those seeking to improve joint function and quality of life without invasive procedures.

These injections come in different strengths and volumes, with the choice depending on the severity of symptoms, the affected joint and its specific needs, and how quickly relief is desired.

What do we offer at Evolution-Physio?

At Evolution-Physio, we provide non-guided Hyaluronic Acid (HA) injections for Joints & Tendons as part of our comprehensive approach to soft tissue and joint care. Our Consultant Physiotherapist, Peter, holds a Level 7 postgraduate qualification in Soft Tissue and Joint Injection Therapy and is highly experienced in administering HA injections for a range of conditions. Before any procedure, Peter will carry out a thorough assessment to confirm whether an injection is appropriate and to determine the most suitable option based on your pain, symptoms, and treatment goals.

Which is the right injection for me?

Your physiotherapist will assess which treatment is right for you:

  • Durolane – Single-injection HA therapy for long-lasting osteoarthritis relief.
  • Ostenil – Standard HA injections for larger joints, given as three weekly doses.
  • Ostenil Plus – Higher-strength HA with mannitol, single injection for advanced joint issues.
  • Ostenil Mini – For smaller joints (hands, feet), three injections over three weeks.
  • Ostenil Tendon – HA with mannitol for tendon pain, injected around or into the tendon.

How Long Does it Last & Is It Safe?

Both Ostenil & Durolane work by restoring hyaluronic acid in the joint or around the tendon to improve lubrication, reduce friction, and relieve pain. These injections are a safe, non-surgical option for managing osteoarthritis and tendinopathies.

Benefits usually appear gradually and can last 6 months to 12 months, sometimes longer, depending on the severity of your condition, activity level, and individual response. When symptoms return, the treatment can be repeated if appropriate.

The hyaluronic acid in both Ostenil and Durolane is highly purified, produced without animal proteins, and has been extensively tested for safety. Allergic reactions are extremely rare. Side effects are uncommon but can include mild pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site, which usually settles within a few days. As with any injection, there is a very small risk of infection.
